hm.

well today we had chem paper and english compre paper! the english compre was manageable.. wasn't hard. last five minutes after i came back from toilet i suddenly saw o.O i left out 1 question which thankfully i had enough time to finish. chem i spent my last few minutes or so trying to do some 1 mark question on balancing the equation and once i finished "times up!" whee. nice timing indeed.

after school i decided i could use some revision for maths and stayed back for remedial. we sat there for 1 hour + doing questions then after that went thru them. yep. made a LOT of careless mistakes. wups. anyways it was fun =D

hm. tmrw is A maths and SS... nid to start memorising some essays to regurgitate tmrw. bye!

First post of 2009 -_-

Wow. Finally I posted. Anyways. Shan't bother with the reviving blog nonsense. Just gonna. Today was HCL Paper! And everybody died. lol. The paper was firstly cloze-passage followed by Compre MCQ and then 2 Compre OE and 2 Summary. Nobody understood the 1st compre.. which is roughly.. 15 marks? yeah so we're quite sure we're all gonna fail. some of us didn't even finish the paper! ahh! anyways. erm. tomorrow is english which is a non studyable subject and chem which is very much studyable and also a must-study-or-fail subject. yeah.

whee.

blah.

bye.

Videos and Badminton... hmm.

this week has been both a pleasant and a dreadful one. ziwei and i have gone to ck's house for the past 3 days just to do our videos and since we have ZERO experience, we made our videos using ppt and jordan converted it using keynote for us =D yup. for my music i used the brother bear song (an extract) yup.

on tuesday and today we played badminton.. and as i type this post nicc haw roygoh ck and kelvinkong are playing badminton.. i'm resting =D. yea its been a fun 2 sessions of badminton, maybe more to come.i havent touched a badminton racket in about 5-6 years so it's nice to play again with a nice big court =D... yup.

i'm not very good at it, but i guess we all are still learning anyways so its quite okay. my "smashes" always end up going up instead of forward so its quite ineffective.. and my backhand is very unreliable. oh ya btw we are playing at bishan sports complex and i'm using wireless@sg to do this yup. the lights on the celing are a bad idea, as whenever i look at the shuttlecock i get blinded and end up missing it (excuses... but sometimes its really true... not all the time la) yup.. bad design.

in the spirit of good fun i asked chiu yang to buy me sth from his trip to australia.. and he brought it ytd for choir. well ever since the fateful day that mrkwei said i sounded like a chicken... people have been harping on it a lot. soo... chiu yang came up to me ytd after choir and was like.. azaac.. may i now present you with a..... CHICKEN!! wahaha then everybody laughed. the chicken is like kid's squeeze toys and it had a few sweets in its ass -_- which were quite tasteless lol. anyways yea i have nth much to talk about le. back to my badminton game!

reunions, reunions.

since i havent blogged in so long.. i do have a lot of things to blog about yups. lets start with the reunions i've had this week. there basically were 4. two were pretty unofficial-reunions, as i basically mean msn. and one was with a loooooong ooollllddd friend which i havent talked to in a while.

i was quite surprised when zann suddenly asked me if i was in choir. i said yes, and she went on asking if i was going to batam. i havent talked to her in very long, and so. yea. guess i'm most probably gonna see her at jubilate.

then a few seconds later nicolette suddenly asked me what my subject combi was. hm. interesting to note how suddenly so many people are suddenly popping up back in my life again. we chatted for quite awhile, and she went on talking on how her dad is spoiling her with sinful food -_- and i was like.. okay... right.

two days back, which was thursday, a few of us decided to crash in on Rosyth for their grad concert. it was quite sad, as there were only four of us, one who came just as we were about to leave. there was vic, crys, glendon and me. glendon had sch in the morning, so came very late. their grad concert was nice, as mrs koh reminded them on all they have learnt in rosyth gep, and then they performed their items. we watched two items. firstly, kee yong sang a self-composed piece. i was quite surprised once again, as i never knew he was the musical sort. anyway, it was a beautiful song and we all enjoyed it very much =) jy kee yong! then they had their batch song, which was life is the road by antasia. it was so nice how they all sang together as a batch. ah.. brings back memories of our grad concert.

we then followed them back to class, and along the way we saw ms khoo and chatted a bit, then took a group photo =). we then went into mrs toh's class, where kee yong did his performance once again just for ms khoo and then we took another group photo, this time with mrs toh. they then broke up for recess, and we decided to walk around. we saw guo lao shi in her classroom, watching a movie with her students and we took another group photo =). after that we basically walked around looking at stuff then went home.

yesterday (friday) i got a message asking for help in school, so i got changed and immediately left for school. at the bus stop, low and behold i saw yan ping there. we talked for a bit.. then suddenly across the road stephanie appeared. like.. cool. so many reunions within one week =O yea. then we waved and stuff and she waved back (hope i dont sound like: and then it was like this and then it was like that.. if i do i apologise) then my bus came and i went to school yarh.

now to the present. today! (saturday) i know that as of now yan ping is somewhat 16 floors above me in the same block, making sushi at her friend's house. interestingness. apparently she had to bring a knife from home to help cut the sushi... got thru the guards without much problem.. (exactly why i don't trust these guards) and yea. its interesting, as she pointed out, how we managed to cram 5 years worth of catching up into 2 days, and we have talked in this 2 days more than in the entire 5 years combined, which was 0. so yea. haha. alright. i've talked a lot.. and some small boi complained that i'm super long winded...

OH YA i just remembered. next year im in 3-9, which is the trip science geog sslit combi yarh. in my class i've got aikeen(yay), zi wei(yay again!), and chiu yang!(yay yet again) and xiang kai(whoopdeedoooo) but of course in every class there are people that nobody likes.. but i will not name them here =X. yup. okay. i've said enough.

sorry guys!

ah. sorry, havent posted my race details like i promised to.. but i kinda lost the gusto and enthusiasm to do it again, so i shall copy it over from my report =X yup.

1)We were flagged off at the starting line, and all dashed over to the Primary School canteen.
2)Upon arrival in the canteen, we started on the challenge after explaining the do’s and don’ts.
3)Seeing that we were the 2nd last team left, we decided to use our first help serial to get 4 pieces of the puzzle placed for us.
4)After solving the puzzle, we then rushed to the staff room, hoping to find someone who could tell us where Maju Ave was.
5)We met Mr Tan Jit Hui, and asked him for help. His first response was that it was in Clementi, but later checked on the street directory that it was in Serangoon Gardens. He printed us a map of the place, and we exited the school.
6)Living in the Serangoon area, I knew where to go immediately. We went to the bus stop that I went to everyday and from there met Hong Yi’s team. Boarding a 156, we met Leon’s team as well.
7)We all got off at the stop along Lorong Chuan, and took 73 to Serangoon gardens.
8)Following the map Mr Tan printed, we made our way down to Maju Ave, and searched for the unit #01-01.
9)The 3 groups split up and searched the area, and the rest followed when someone spotted Nicholas Haw at coffee bean.
10)We saw Jordan’s team running, and they had already started on their challenge. After queuing up to go up to them, we got our Road Block.
11)We first went to NTUC and immediately asked the cashier for help, asking the prices of the first 3 items. She directed us to the manager, who helped us find the products.
12)However, one product was not sold at that particular branch, and thus we thanked them and rushed to Café Cartel
13)After checking the price of the Pepper Fish Pasta, we went back to Nicholas Haw, who then gave us our clue leading to British High Commission.
14)We ran back to the bus stop and saw Perry’s team on the bus 73 and blindly followed them up.
15)At Ang Mo Kio MRT station, we got off and took a train together down to Orchard MRT, where we were directed to take bus 7 or 77 to the British High Commission.
16)On the bus, we met a lady who overheard our loud talking, saying she was headed to the US Embassy and could lead us there.
17)We then rushed over to the place, and saw Christopher Koh across the road, then went over to get a speed bump of 10 minutes.
18)We then followed our clue to the Botanical Gardens, where we found the $5 tree with ease.
19)The challenge was finding where the coordinates led, and we stuck once again with Perry’s team, hoping to get an answer
20)After a long time, we still could not get an answer, and thus decided to leave.
21)On the way out, we saw a visitor’s centre and asked for help. He told us that a team before had already asked, and directed us to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.
22)We all left the Botanical Gardens and planned to take 75 there from the British Council. However, we made a blunder and took 7 away from the Council instead of towards it. We then made another blunder, stopping along a one-way street.
23)We then backtracked after buying some food at Old Chang Kee and found ourselves at Somerset MRT, then took a train to Orchard MRT.
24)From there we took 7 to the British Council and took 75 to Holland Road
25)We then made our way to the foot of Bukit Timah, where we asked the park ranger for tips.
26)He told us that most probably we would have to go to the summit, and then climbed up after thanking him.
27)We stopped at the 1/3 and 2/3 marks, sitting for a short break.
28)At the top, we met Roy and received the riddle.
29)After solving it, we rushed down. Halfway down, Roy called me and told me that I had left my Amazing Pocket at the summit, and would have to run up to get it.
30)Samuel and I rushed up, while the other half of the group rushed down as Brendan had a stomach ache and had to use the toilet urgently.
31)We met at the bottom and then once again met Perry’s group at the bus stop, taking 84 together to King Albert Park’s Mcdonalds.
32)We got the clue from Joseph and then checked the time, noting that it was already 4.38.
33)We knew that we could not make it to Changi Airport and back to school by 5.30, thus asked Joseph for advice.
34)He called Christopher who then told us to cab to Changi Airport.
35)After failing to get a cab for 10 minutes, we then asked what to do.
36)We were then told to go back to school, and we then stopped for a proper meal.
37)Gin Kee called his dad, asking him to take us back to school.
38)Gin Kee’s dad came in his MPV, bringing our whole team back to school.
39)We crossed the finish line first, but knew there was going to be a time penalty.
40)We then sat down, waiting for the other teams.

and there we have it! ahah. sorry for notation form and stuff, but ck didnt want paragraphs. after totalling up the penalties and stuff, we got 4th place =X not too happy nor sad. yup.

choir camp!

ah. it's over, it's all over. yup. i was at aloha loyang for my choir chalet, thus have been unable to post. apologies. i was sad that due to choir camp, i had to miss my class chalet. my camp was from 4th to 7th november, while theirs was 4th to 6th. yep.

we started off the camp in school, at around 845 on the 4th of november. weiren set the rules and explained what we had to do, then we went on to bishan active to play a 3hr game of volleyball. pure fun. it's so much more fun playing with less players... we played 3 on 3 rather than in the past where we played like.. up to 10 on 10... which was dumb. anyway, after that we packed up the stuff and waited for the bus. minutes later, we brought the stuff down, and the bus arrived promptly.

on the bus there were some people playing bridge.. and i thought we could catch a game or two.. but i started the journey at the front of the bus.. talking to weiren and josh and chris about the camp and stuff.. then after all that i decided i wanted to play some bridge. but unfortunately, we were disallowed from standing while the bus was moving. and at that point of time, we were on a super long expressway thus the bus continued to move.. until we reached the place. darn.

*pssst! the best/worst part is yet to come*

then.. when we reached..... SURPRISE! guess who i saw? while we had camp in bungalow 5, just opposite us was bungalow 4, and in it was a bunch of familiar faces. MY CLASS WAS HAVING CLASS CHALET JUST OPPOSITE ME! WALAO SIA. it's a terrible feeling. the most apt phrase/line to use now is "so near, yet so far." argh. it was so sad. wanted to talk to them and more importantly spend our last few moments together playing and having fun as a class.. but i couldn't. i just couldn't and i was merely 20-30 metres away. the feeling just sucked. okay? it did.

well.. the camp started with the ground rules of the camp and the introduction of the leaders around.. and cedric and andy were our camp commanders! woo! (they were the presidents of the choir when i first entered EBC yarp) and i really respect those two people. personally i feel that out of the three sets of presidents we've had.. they were definitely the best of all. one was the loud one who we respected for his courage and strong personality, while the other was one who worked behind-the-scenes mostly, and came out strongly too when needed yarp.

we then started activity 1 (within the chalet la. don't count volleyball.) in which we watched short little snippets (short clips) extracted from movies, which showed us the different types of leadership (e.g. dictatorship, influential and so on). one i particularly enjoyed was from a movie i had previously watched. men in black! not many people would think that MIB would teach us stuff, but it did. will smith was going,"ladies and gentlemen, we have a bug in the system (he was referring to a literal giant bug in the railway system) but most passengers assumed that he meant that there was a glitch in the electrical circuitry or something to that extent thus didn't run. from that short simple clip we learnt that we have to clarify what we mean in order for people to understand what we mean correctly.

yea so after that we gathered up in a room and everyone gave a speech about what kind of leader he wanted to be. i was interrupted many times caus i volunteered first and alot of comments were made so thus in the end nobody actually understood fully what i meant. argh. frustrating.

then we made speeches to a make-belief audience-choir with a given set of instructions, having to focus on safety, excellence and alot of stuff. honestly i felt it basically became a vocab lesson, with people having to expand their chim english skills to the maximum, using lines like "it is imparative/paramount" instead of "i want this/i expect that". like.. honestly.. who talks like that normally? not many people i assume. yea.

out of the whole-choir part of the camp, i enjoyed the trust fall and flour bomb games best. lol. the trust fall was seriously scary. everyone had to stand on a table, face forward and fall backwards, trusting that your teammates would catch you. i feel that it was a good activity to carry out. but then i feel that a mistake was made in the planning. due to the highly competitive spirit of us, the leaders decided to add in another factor in to the game. a timing. A HUGE MISTAKE. instead of making it a game where people took their times to ensure the catchers were in a secure and safe manner, it became a race, and when people hurry, mistakes are made. and a mistake WAS MADE. as a result of this, a team had a casualty.... after the accident, i told my group. guys, let us just forget about the timing, and make this activity a meaningful and safe one. so we all took our time and made sure the "net" was secure before falling.

aiya i dunno how to say la. not that i don't trust my team, but i guess i'm just terrified of falling. the first two attempts i just ended up sitting in the net, which doesn't count so i had to do it again.. and succeeded on the third yays. of course we didn't win, but it was so fun and exciting. and i really learnt alot yarps!

the 2nd game i liked alot was the flour bomb game. let me translate this into simple terms: water bombs, containing corn starch. the result? exploding bags of white slush. now, the task. there were 6 teams, and we played 3 teams at a time. the teams had to form letters/numbers by lying on the ground, and the last team to complete the task was bombed with slush and the leaders took cups of the stuff and literally poured it onto them. our team was doing great, and we didn't lose a single time. until the last round, where we screwed up big time. and boom we got it bad. but anyway compared to the other teams we had won. the prize? get bombed more, but by water bombs to clear off the corn starch on us.

after the other 3 teams played, the 2 winners, which was ching's and our group played together. guess what? they asked us to simply form the number 1, meaning we had to lie in a straight column. they non-suspiciously asked us to lie face down, but we all know what it meant. they also mentioned that both teams were not to look up till the verdict was made as to who won/lost. THE LEADERS CHEATED OUR FEELINGS. ARGH. they then proceeded to pour the remaining PAILS of SLUSHY WHITE STUFF onto BOTH TEAMS. BOTH TEAMS LOST. ARGH. I REPEAT: THE LEADERS CHEATED OUR FEELINGS. DOUBLE ARGH. anyways, it was good, dirty fun. the leaders then played around abit, but then a slush bomb that fq threw at lk richocheted off him and bombed the air-con. and boy, was it a chore to clean it off.

so after all the dirty fun a few of us stayed back to clean up. it was fun cleaning up as well, splashing water everywhere to wash the corn starch away. yup. mr kwei came shortly after, but said that he wasn't there for practice.. just to visit. halfway thru he suddenly told me/reminded me that i shudn't curl my tongue when singing, just as my seniors have been trying to undo since they told me to curl since pattaya to cut air-con-ness.

anyways, up to now we haven't learnt the whole of white horses (SYF piece) yet.. and mr kwei wants to combine it on monday. how sia.

i shall continue what happened today (amazing race and sfx) prac in the next exciting post of my wonderfully splendid choir camp (yea! good job sec 3s!)

gonna go bathe/sleep now.. save energy for tomorrow.. i'm on singing duty again. okay, bye!

Sunday, November 2, 2008

it's working out great!

today i went for sfx and learn 2 new songs: ave maria and whatsitsname? anyways. yea that makes my song-learning-count to a total of 20, including the new SYF piece White Horse we're gonna get tomrrow i think. its like.. in 7/8 timing. please la. i never even

1) heard of a 7/8 piece
2) know what to expect
3) know how to beat 7/8

SO HOW AM I GONNA TEACH IT? if i don't fulfill the top 3 criteria, i don't see how teaching a bunch of 16 sops how to sing it is gonna happen. hope mr kwei gives us all a kick start tomorrow so i can just work on the part he taught. please do it. i need help.

well today at consort mr kwei told us about the piece, and how its harder than everyone sang (2007 syf set piece) and that its named White Horse, so the whole song is fast and gallop-like with a beat of 7/8. yarps. stressed man.

for choir sec 2 camp we all have to do 2 speeches to present, pretending that we're leaders talking to the choir in 2 scenarios. got my work preperations done, must remember to print it. we also have our little skit which we havent practiced. we're gonna chiong it through tomorrow after prac. hope and pray we can do it =)
